Talk Therapy

Therapy can be about processing a difficult experience, learning new ways of coping with stress, or just having a space to explore what you want in life. Our therapist’s theoretical orientation or style of therapy is relational and attachment based, CBT and DBT, and incorporating other modalities as they become relevant. Read our profiles to see who might be the best fit for you. Our clinicians have training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 training for couples looking to strengthen their relationship.

Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT)

Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT) is a short-term specialized treatment (average length is 14-16 sessions) that directly addresses emotional and behavioral challenges for children between the ages of 2 and 7. Benefits of PCIT include increased feelings of security, safety, and attachment with caregivers, increased attention span, increased self-esteem, increased pro-social behaviors, and decreased caregiver frustration. Some examples of appropriate issues for PCIT are frequent temper tantrums, defiance, verbal and/or physical aggression, destruction of toys/belongings, and/or constantly seeking attention.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a different form of therapy that relies less on talking through details of the traumatic experience. EMDR accesses the brain’s natural healing process to reduce the survival response attached to a traumatic event. The memory is still there, but the emotional intensity of the event is reduced significantly or goes away entirely. EMDR can be beneficial for anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, grief and loss, pain, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Parenting Groups

Dr. Celia is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (CPDPE), which is a parenting program designed to empower, encourage, and teach children important life and social skills. Positive Discipline emphasizes the balance between warmth and firmness in the parenting relationship. One special aspect of this class is Parents-Helping-Parents where group members get a chance to share things they have learned and what has worked well in their homes.
